Big News: NowCandid Is Becoming QuicPics! 🚀📸

We’ve got a new name to share: NowCandid is rebranding to QuicPics!
It’s a name with plenty of history at Candid Color Systems, and we’re excited to give it a new, long-term home. Along with introducing the name, we want to take a moment to explain what QuicPics is all about—and why it exists alongside CORE and PhotoMatch.
📸 A New Name—and a Quick Clarification
We understand this might cause some initial confusion. QuicPics was previously the name of our free image delivery program, alongside other programs such as PartyPics, GradPics, SportsPics, and Portraits. That program was recently renamed FreePics in preparation for this rebrand.
So, going forward: QuicPics is the platform. FreePics is one of the programs within it.
We feel QuicPics is a better standalone name: more recognizable, more marketable, and more descriptive of what we’re about from the name alone.
It also gives the platform a more distinct identity from Candid Color Systems, which, of course, remains the company powering QuicPics.
And don’t worry—I’m still Candy! 🍬 My name is staying as an homage to our company’s broader identity, although I have gotten an updated look. I think it’s pretty cool. 😉
🕰️ A Name With More Than 50 Years of History
QuicPics carries a lot of history with our company.
Over 50 years ago, before Party Pics was Party Pics, the business Jack Counts Jr. founded—the business that started it all—was called Quic Pics!
He still has a flyer from that original brand on his wall, complete with a much more italicized font. A sign of the times, perhaps. 😄
The name has popped up in different programs and features Candid Color Systems has offered over the years. Now, it has a more permanent home as the new name of the platform formerly known as NowCandid.
🤔 Why QuicPics When We Already Have CORE and PhotoMatch?
We hear this question from time to time:
Why offer QuicPics when Candid Color Systems already has CORE and PhotoMatch—especially when many of the workflows overlap?
The answer comes down to different needs and different design philosophies.
CORE has a long history. Many large photography businesses grew alongside it, with some becoming major players in the industry. As those businesses grew, so did the number of features, settings, and options needed to accommodate their different customers and workflows.
That flexibility has made CORE an exceptionally powerful and customizable platform. It’s also increased the learning curve.
For small and medium-sized photography businesses—or teams that simply don’t need that level of customization—learning all those options can be a lot to take on. And with so many settings available, it’s understandable that photographers can sometimes make choices that conflict with one another or produce results they didn’t intend.
QuicPics takes a different approach.
🎯 Best Practices, Built Into the Platform
QuicPics is meant to be a polished implementation of the best practices that CORE, its photography business customers, and Candid Color Systems have developed through many years of experience.
We lean on the experience and expertise of the people at Candid Color Systems every day to make the most informed decisions possible.
Rather than asking every photographer to configure every possible variation, QuicPics packages those best practices into a more guided experience.
There will be things in QuicPics that likely never become customizable—or options at all. That’s intentional.
CORE and PhotoMatch are there for photographers who need more flexibility to accommodate precise requirements or specialized workflows. QuicPics is there for photographers who would rather have more of those decisions already made, based on what we’ve learned works well.
The goal isn’t to make one platform replace the other. It’s to give photographers the right fit.

Think of these platforms as a yin-and-yang pairing: different purposes, design philosophies, and audiences, working together to help Candid Color Systems, Inc. serve a wider range of photography businesses.

Prefer a platform that brings our recommended workflows together without asking you to manage every setting yourself? That’s what QuicPics is built for.
This also means we won’t add every feature requested or try to accommodate every specialized workflow. We want to keep improving QuicPics without losing the simplicity that makes it useful in the first place.
